Austrelia, 1 April, 2015 / A public bus caught fire sending its passengers running and shutting down roads in Sydney’s lower north shore on Wednesday at 3 pm.A fire started near the exhaust pipe of a State Transit Bus number L90 on the corner of Awaba Road and Spit Road in Mosman.
“The road was engulfed in smoke. The bus pulled over but every time he tried to start the bus, flames started coming out of the exhaust pipe,” Herald photographer James Brickwood who was at the scene said.
The firefighters put out the fire quickly.
NSW Transport Management Centre said two southbound lanes were closed with traffic heavy but moving slowly. They also confirmed there were no injuries.
At local time 4pm, traffic had returned to normal.
