10 Dec, 2017 (Kathmandu) / With the successful conduct of the elections to the House of Representatives and Provincial parliament, the Legislature-Parliament Secretariat has informed that preparation was in full swing to hold their meetings.
Secretariat Spokesperson Dr Bharatraj Gautam told the National News Agency (RSS) that as per the constitutional provision, a federal parliament secretariat was required for running the activities of the federal parliament. Within this, there would be separate secretariats for the House of Representatives and National Assembly.
The halls for holding the meetings are getting facelift with repair of furniture and gathering of other paraphernalia.
Tender for the purchase of necessary equipment has also been issued, he added.
Spokesperson Gautam further said meeting of the House of Representatives should be summoned within a month while the meeting of State Assemblies within 20 days of the final result of vote count.
Based on his study, Dr Gautam added that a building for each State Assembly, parliamentary party office, secretariat building, offices for different parliamentary committees and a library for each state assembly are required.
The meeting of the Federal Assembly would be held in the BICC Hall while the venue for the province assembly would be prepared after the government announces the provincial capitals.
According to him, that annual expenses for the operation of federal assembly would be Rs 2.55 billion.
The Parliament Secretariat said that the federal government should deploy the officials required for the province assembly, adding that around 350 officials were presumably required for the seven provinces.
